Long before there was a Baker Bros Restaurant, there was a Baker family in the making. Industry veteran Ken Reimer, fresh from stints as CEO of Tony Roma's and Furr's Cafeterias, dreamed of creating a restaurant reminiscent of the American values that shaped our great country. He knew that whatever he created, it needed to be something "special", something with long-term value and something that consumers craved over and over again. Ken wanted to bring an appreciation of "neighborhood" and down home hospitality founded on the beliefs of the American heartland. There, people are raised to appreciate the value of an honest day's work and a good meal based on hearty, honest foods, in generous portions served with the same hospitality given to guests in the family home.

Today, the Baker Bros family brings the authentic taste of the heartland to your neighborhood with the pledge to "make it special" regardless of your dining needs—it's all in a day's work for the Baker Bros family. As you'd expect, we insist on serving quality breads, the freshest produce and only premium quality meats and cheeses. As our guest, you'll find a variety that satisfies both appetite and curiosity.

Baker Bros continues to grow today and is firmly entrenched as the fast-casual restaurant of choice in the communities it chooses to serve. The Brothers commitment to its family of consumers is to offer better quality foods, more healthful menu options and better service at a fair price. Baker Bros differentiates itself from its competition by serving 3 specialty Ciabatta breads — eggspun, farm roll and whole wheat—that bring rich, complex flavors to mouthwatering specialties. The highest quality produce, prepared fresh daily, is used to create our award-winning specialty salads. Incredible, gourmet pizzas, soups and giant stuffed baked potatoes have been popular staples since inception. A new line of gourmet flatbreads round out the menu to provide enough variety and flavor to delight any group.

Each Baker Bros showcases a proprietary mural depicting the history of the US in the pursuit of the American Dream. The Baker family believes that Dream was, and still is achievable, using the values of the heartland. Values that say what we have stood for as a country for more than 200 years and define the way Baker Bros does business. Baker Bros incorporates those hard earned principles into an entrepreneurial lifestyle (spirit) that is summed up in the mission of the Baker family.

January 2005 Franchise efforts begin

August 2005 First franchised location outside of Dallas opens in Texarkana, TX
